Advanced Technology to Customize Braces for Every Smile

With the braces we use at Escott Orthodontics, treatment with braces have never been faster, more comfortable, or less obvious. Our patients may easily choose between traditional metal or modern clear types braces. With either choice, braces at Escott Orthodontics are selected for each patient to allow us to deliver the highest-standards in orthodontic treatment.

There is actually very little that is “traditional” about braces at Escott Orthodontics; in fact, we are certain that your experience with braces at here will be very different than what you have come to expect from orthodontics in the past! We utilize 3-D imaging, advanced treatment planning systems, and precision materials to control the movement of teeth.

What this means for you is that your treatment will be easier and your experience more comfortable than ever before possible! You will need fewer visits to the orthodontist and those visits can be further apart because of the advanced tools we use with braces.

Furthermore, with our modern approach to planning your treatment, you can expect your best result possible and a smile you will enjoy for a lifetime! At Escott Orthodontics, there will be a difference you can feel and see.

Braces are still the most popular and cost-effective approach to moving your teeth into the proper position to achieve your best smile and a healthy bite (occlusion). Braces also provide the doctor with the greatest control in moving your teeth, and therefore some patients will benefit more from braces than they could with other treatment options.

SureSmile

Dr. Escott utilizes advanced 3-D digital scanning technology, combined with custom robotically-shaped braces to create the most amazing smiles for every one of his patients.

Step 1: Digital Scan

The treatment process begins with a digital scan of your teeth. This digital scan works like a three dimensional camera to capture the unique details of your teeth in incredible detail. Getting your scan is easy! There is no radiation and there is no unpleasant dental impressions.

Step 2: Comprehensive Treatment Plan based on a Virtual Model

Your scan is then used to create a virtual model of your teeth and jaws. Dr. Escott uses this model to create a comprehensive plan for the movement of your teeth, and to design every detail of your smile. This process is critical to achieving the best-possible result for each individual patient.

Step 3: Adhering to Details

Straight teeth is just the beginning in quality orthodontic treatment, and getting the details right requires critical evaluation and careful planning for each patient’s treatment. While designing your orthodontic treatment using a virtual model, Dr. Escott also carefully plans important details such as how your teeth appear within your smile and how your teeth fit together when biting. Dr. Escott even looks at many smaller details, such as the shapes of individual teeth – carefully factoring in details such as worn edges and uneven gum tissue. Planning orthodontic treatment to this detail is critical for an excellent orthodontic treatment result.

Step 4: SureSmile Robot Fabricates Archwires

After designing your smile and creating your treatment plan, Dr. Escott utilizes the SureSmile robot to fabricate custom archwires for his patients. These robots are incredible machines, and only two exist in the world. These advanced robots are capable of creating wires for orthodontic treatment with accuracy and precision that cannot be achieved with any other method of orthodontic treatment.

Step 5: Receive Your Custom Archwires

Back in the clinic at Escott Orthodontics, you will receive your custom-made archwires to guide your teeth efficiently to the exact position that was planned by Dr. Escott. Your custom wires are remarkable in that they work on every tooth, simultaneously, to take teeth to their prescribed positions, expressing all of the details carefully designed by Dr. Escott. This means that one custom wire can achieve more than a dozen visits to the orthodontist done the traditional way. Therefore, your customized archwires can dramatically reduce orthodontic treatment time, not by forcing teeth to move “faster”, but by moving teeth with a precision that has never before been possible.

With traditional orthodontic treatment, the orthodontist inserts generic wires and monitors the patient’s response as they begin to move the teeth. Once every several weeks, the orthodontist has the patient return for visits to adjust the wire. As treatment progresses, the orthodontist usually begins to manually shape the wire by hand to continue to move teeth where the doctor desires. This type of treatment is reactive; the doctor evaluates the patient at every visit and makes decisions at that time on how to proceed with treatment. While traditional orthodontic treatment certainly progresses towards the doctor’s mental vision for the final result, traditional treatment lacks detailed treatment planning of the final result, as well as the precision provided by robotically-shaped wires.

You can expect an amazing result, in less time, and with fewer visits to the clinic.

Lingual Braces

Lingual Braces are the Most Esthetic Orthodontic Treatment Option

With lingual braces, your orthodontic treatment is performed using a specialized type of braces placed behind your teeth, on the tongue (or lingual) side, where they are hidden from view. With lingual braces, orthodontic treatment can essentially be invisible, allowing you to discreetly straighten your teeth. For a patient who wants to perfect their smile while hiding their orthodontic treatment, lingual braces are the best orthodontic treatment option.

Your smile is unique, and your braces should be too. Lingual orthodontic treatment is accomplished using a custom set of braces for each individual patient, which is designed using cutting-edge computer systems and robotic fabrication. This allows your lingual braces to be comfortable, efficient, and accurate in delivering your orthodontic treatment. Moving teeth with lingual braces requires extreme accuracy, careful planning, and specialized training in advanced orthodontic treatment techniques. Very few doctors provide lingual orthodontic treatment.

Lingual braces can offer the same results of traditional braces, and can be used to treat a range of orthodontic problems from simple to complex. Lingual braces were first developed during the 1970s. Early lingual braces lacked in comfort and were not as effective as traditional braces. After decades of development, lingual braces now offer the same control of traditional braces. Today, orthodontic treatment with lingual braces is an option for most patients.

Treatment with lingual braces can be faster than other orthodontic treatment options, including traditional braces and removable clear aligners such as Invisalign. Because lingual braces are custom made for each patient, and treatment is carefully planned in advance, lingual orthodontic treatment progresses efficiently and with exceptional control. The result is fewer visits to the orthodontist than with traditional braces, and less time in treatment.

Lingual Braces vs. Invisalign

While lingual braces and Invisalign are both esthetic orthodontic treatment options, there are major differences.

  • Lingual braces are hidden from sight. Clear aligners are clear, but still visible on the outside of the teeth.
  • Clear aligners typically require a large number of tooth-colored attachments placed on the teeth in order to improve the control of tooth movement with removable aligners, and these make your orthodontic treatment more visible. Attachments on the outside of the teeth are not usually required with lingual braces.
  • Lingual braces offer the same control possible with traditional braces, and can be used for patients with mild-complex orthodontic treatment needs.
  • Lingual braces are fixed on your teeth, while clear aligners are removable. While it may seem appealing to have the option to remove your aligners, many patients find it inconvenient to remove and replace aligners throughout the day with each meal and beverage. Furthermore, some patients struggle with wearing aligners for the prescribed number of hours per day, and finish their orthodontic treatment with compromises in their result.

If you live in Orlando or Lake County, Florida and would like a consultation to discuss lingual braces, schedule a complementary consultation with Dr. Escott and begin looking forward to discreetly shaping your new smile.
