Growing up in Bulgaria to physician parents, Dr. Ioanna “Anni” Ulrich was raised to appreciate the sciences, arts, and cultural diversity. Observing the gratification her parents received from medicine, she was inspired to pursue healthcare. Dr. Ulrich identified orthodontics as her dream career due to the monumental impact her own orthodontist had in her life. She received a Biomedical Sciences degree and Psychology minor from Orlando’s own University of Central Florida. Go Knights!

After college, Dr. Ulrich earned her Doctor in Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from the University of Florida and graduated at the top of her class with Cum Laude recognition and High Research Honors. At UF, she was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society, received the Pierre Fauchard Honorary Dental Student award, and participated in service trips to the Dominican Republic.

With the mission of helping others achieve an everlasting smile, Dr. Ulrich received her Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics Specialty Certificate from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. UTHSC is known for its intensive clinical training, accepts only four residents per year, and prides itself as the oldest orthodontic program in the South. While at UTHSC, Dr. Ulrich completed her thesis in three-dimensional imaging of the bone architecture surrounding anterior teeth earning her a Masters in Dental Sciences (MDS).

Dr. Ulrich’s clinical interests focus on state-of-the-art orthodontic technology that helps patients achieve natural and healthy smiles. Most importantly, she loves to support and build confidence in her patients during their orthodontic treatment journey. She is an active member of the American Dental Association (ADA) and the American Association of Orthodontics (AAO).

Aside from her evident orthodontic passions, Dr. Ulrich loves to travel and learn about different cultures. She is also passionate about the environment. Dr. Ulrich married her high school sweetheart and they both enjoy sunny beach days, hiking, biking, and spending time with their playful cat, Smokey.
